CABRINI

Wanna be inspired by a remarkable woman who made a tremendous impact in America and in American Catholic Church History? Angel Studios, the studio that produced The Sound of Freedom and The Chosen, is set to launch the movie,

Cabrini in theaters on Friday, March 8th. “Cabrini” refers to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, also known as “Mother Cabrini,” who left us a tremendous legacy of her life now captured on film.

She was an Italian Immigrant, the youngest of 13 children, who lived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, became a missionary, a religious sister, and a holy leader. She labored for 28 years in the U.S. and in South America and founded 67 institutions including schools, hospitals, and orphanages. While faced with much resistance and many challenges, she persevered to become an extraordinary woman before her death in Chicago in 1917. She is the patroness of immigrants and migrants and was honored to be canonized as the first American saint in 1946. One of the great gifts of our Catholic Faith is the Communion of Saints. Let us seek her prayerful intercession for our intentions and pray for the success of this film that hearts be opened and moved in a positive way. This movie portrays an incredible, personal testimony of faith, and is rated *PG-13. If you’re wondering what movie to see next, check out this one at a theater near you, which again, opens this Friday, March 8th. Below are some helpful resources. Enjoy the show!

P.S. Is there a a school or church named after St. Frances Xavier Cabrini in your area? There is a grade school, high school, and church named after her in Allen Park, a suburb of Detroit, MI (USA) near my hometown.

Trivia Question: If St. Frances Cabrini (born in Italy) is the first American Saint, then who is the first native-born, American Saint? (See the bottom of this post for the answer)
