The Real Superhero

IMG_1892

A priest friend of mine, Fr. Sid Eckert, sent me the above image of Jesus talking with the Marvel Comic Heroes. I think we know who the real super hero is… Also, it’s as if these seven characters are becoming disciples like the original 12. Notice one of them reading the Bible? While there have been many real heroes, spoken and unspoken, in connection with the two recent hurricanes, for example, how has God’s presence in the real super hero of Jesus Christ been active in your life lately?

  1. Father,
I noticed that there are 7 characters in the picture, thought about your characterization of them looking like “Disciples” and decided to research the significance of the number seven in the Bible since it is used so often. The first item I clicked on, I found the following:

There are at least seven men in the Old Testament who are specifically mentioned as a “man of God”. They are Moses (Joshua 14:6), David (2Chronicles 8:14), Samuel (1Samuel 9:6, 14), Shemaiah (1Kings 12:22), Elijah (1Kings 17:18), Elisha (2Kings 5:8) and Igdaliah (Jeremiah 35:4).

Do you think these super heroes who, I think in general, represent truth, justice and the American Way, could represent the “man of God” that we are called to be? Men with super hero power to be Jesus’ hands and feet here on earth.
Lot’s to reflect on, thank you Jesus!

    1. Reynaldo – Glad to heat your son likes it enough to want to use it as an album cover. When I discovered it through a “Google” search, I found that it did not have any attribution or copyright info at the time (though there may be some that I may not be aware of). Please use discretion. God bless you.
