“Freedom!!!” This is the passionate, fiery roar of William Wallace played by actor, producer, and director Mel Gibson in the 1995 Blockbuster hit, Braveheart (clip) that portrayed Gibson playing the role of a…
Scottish warrior who joined forces with fellow Scots to revolt against the English in their fight for freedom.
In the present moment we are sandwiched between two, freedom holidays in the U.S. On the one hand we are a few weeks removed from Memorial Day in honor of the men and women freedom fighters who sacrificially offered their precious lives over the years and throughout many foreign and domestic wars to battle against enemies for the sake of our freedom. On the other hand, we celebrate the birthday of our great nation in about two weeks on the 4th of July to commemorate our independence from England in 1776 like Wallace did against the English eight centuries earlier. In addition, we remember the patriotic soldiers who fought for our freedom in the Revolutionary War at the cost of thousands of lives, which led up to our independence almost 250 years ago.
Freedom isn’t free. It comes at a price. Jesus Christ paid the price for our freedom by shedding his blood on the cross for you and me. Actor, Jim Caviezel played the incredible role of Christ in the epic film, The Passion of The Christ in 2004, which, like Braveheart, was also directed by Gibson. Furthermore, Caviezel stars in a leading role through the soon-to-be released film, Sound of Freedom, set to launch on the 4th of July.
Plot
What is the movie about? It’s an inspiring, freedom fighting movie created to raise awareness, confront, and defeat a horrific and oftentimes publicly, unknown evil of trafficking in the quest to bring freedom to enslaved children. Sound of Freedom is a movie based on the story of Tim Ballard, a former U.S. government agent, who quits his job to devote his life to rescue hundreds of children from global, sex traffickers. According to the website, Rotten Tomatoes “Sound of Freedom, based on the incredible true story, shines a light on even the darkest of places. After rescuing a young boy from ruthless child traffickers, a federal agent learns the boy’s sister is still captive and decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save her. With time running out, he quits his job and journeys deep into the Colombian jungle, putting his life on the line to free her from a fate worse than death.” Though the movie portrays life and death situations, what’s even more disturbing, is that it’s a reality for many trafficked children around the world.
“God’s children are not for sale.”
Tim Ballard
In regards to this film and the terrible and incomprehensible injustice of child trafficking, Ballard, who is the founder of Operation Underground Railroad, an organization whose aim is to rescue exploited, trafficked children rightly and appropriately states, “God’s children are not for sale.” God loves his children, and He has entrusted the responsibility and care of his children into the hands of some adults who have egregiously misused and abused their freedom which is an understatement. “It would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea …” (Lk. 17:2, Mt. 18:6). But hope is on the horizon, and justice screams out from heaven for these innocent children.
Goal
The goal of this movie is to have two million people watch it on the 4th of July in honor and remembrance of the two million kids who are presently being trafficked throughout the world. So click on the link in the “Resource” section below. Buy a ticket to support this tremendously, important cause that helps educate and raise awareness about these victimized children. From a statistical standpoint, our government states: “With an estimated 27.6 million victims worldwide at any given time, human traffickers prey on people of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities, exploiting them for their own profit” (Source: U.S. Department of State). Let us pray with a bold conviction for an end to this hideous evil of trafficking so as to bring the freedom as well as the peace, joy, and love that these children deserve and that God created them to have. “For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible” (Mt. 19:26).
Have a blessed summer!
